Artist Rick J. Delanty
A Christian Creationist Artist based in San Clemente .
I am a former arts educator of 32 years (high school painting and drawing),based in San Clemente, and attend a non-denominational fellowship there, called Heritage Christian Fellowship.
I believe that Jesus is my Lord and Savior , and that God Himself, the Lord and giver of life, created me and everyone else, and all that we see and know about--and a lot that we don't know about--I look forward one day to living with Him in Eternity.
Until then, I will use my art to tell others about Him.
My work has its inspiration in Romans 1:19-20
“That which is known about God is evident within men...For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made...”

Buckhorn Cove, 15x30, oil on linen
As I seek subjects to paint, I am always looking for what I call “Doorways to heaven.” There is one pictured very clearly in the film “Gladiator,” through which Russell Crowe’s character, Maximus, enters into rolling fields of wheat and cypress trees to discover his family, who had been dispatched by the Roman legion. This was a place to me through which I could see God beckoning to me, through these seaside caves, and the opening at right, through which the sun came. I created a small sketch on the spot, and developed this studio piece from that.

Virgin River, 16x20, acrylic on board
This fall, my wife and I visited Zion National Park in Utah for the first time. We found there an untamed landscape, that probably looks very much like it did two hundred years ago when the Southern Paiute lived in its valleys and traversed its mountains. I have been very attracted to painting rivers, especially since my baptism in the Jordan River in Israel in 2000. The river here is presented as a “road of light,” of pristine purity.
Time to be Home, 6x8, oil on board
In San Juan Capistrano during a painting excursion, I came upon this field as the sun was setting. Sunlight sat on the trees and brush with a heavenly red light.
The light was warm, and the temperature was warm. I wanted to paint the warmth of God’s love on the earth, and on His Creation.

River of Living Water
”This painting is about the healing power and capacity for forward movement when one surrenders one’s self to the working of the Holy Spirit.”
“The Way"
“Here the cross of Christ is pictured as a tree directly in the path of history. Though the forces around it threaten to overpower it and sweep it away, the tree is steadfast,
and endures.”
and endures.”
“Overflow"
“The inspiration for this painting is the Scripture,
John 7:38—“He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said,
‘From his innermost being shall flow rivers of living water.”
