Paintings of Landscapes & Portraits
Over the years most of my paintings have been in oils and have focused on clean air, unspoiled places, bush, streams, coastline, the beauty of Creation, people, animals and rural charm. Along the way I became fascinated with capturing and portraying lots of light. I also began to realise that I was not bound to paint what I could see. I could include what I imagined… light and colour effects, objects, compositional changes. This opened the way to paint story pictures and led naturally to...

Still Life Paintings
Still Life gives enormous scope for imagination. Common objects can be selected, positioned and made to relate to one another in ways which offer endless visual story possibilities. Sometimes I give objects human or animal personality, even to the point of adding facial features (see ‘The Holdup Gang’).
Sometimes I present home truths in a gentle, humorous way (the Jug paintings). At other times I try to convey things that have deep, spiritual significance as strongly and eloquently as I can (#225 ‘Remember Me’ and #226 ‘Given for You’). The inclusion of words often helps the viewer to fuller understanding.
MOTIVATION
To begin with, my paintings were direct responses to things I saw. In more recent times I have often started from an idea in my head. This might come when I’m praying, or reading, or listening to someone else. I try to record seed thoughts in written and loosely sketched form. I then go about finding reference that will be helpful in bringing the painting to completion. While I want my art to be interesting, enjoyable and wholesome, I really want to say more… to inspire and uplift.
Ultimately, I want my paintings to reveal that there is a great, overarching, purpose behind life and creation; to present facets of the wonder and beauty of God’s character; to encourage you to discover Him through Jesus Christ; to adventure beyond the present… to become excited about the future… to live in confidence and hope!

'FIDELITY' by Graham Braddock
'Fidelity' by Graham Braddock
I set out to create a visual reminder that Marriage is essentially about oneness. About sharing life together. That it’s value far outstrips all distracting alternatives. That it is worth holding on to…
To Me, the core of a stable, prosperous society lies in having strong families who are deeply committed to one another.
Such families don’t just happen. They are dependent on marriages that are based on honesty, faithfulness, perseverance and unselfish love.
Such marriages don't just happen. These beautiful qualities have a Christian base. God is the source. He is the Architect and Sustainer of marriages that really work. Our role is to cherish our marriage partners. To guard and protect our marriage covenants. Our future, our nation, depends on it.

'GIVEN FOR YOU' by Graham Braddock
"Given For You" by Graham Braddock
“And He took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them saying, ‘This is My body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of Me.’
Likewise also the cup after supper, saying,
‘This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.’”
Luke 22 v 19, 20.
But God demonstrates His own love for us in this:
While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5 v 8 (NIV).

'SPRING CARPET' by Graham Braddock
Spring Carpet - Mt Carmel Israel Landscape Each year they come in their millions – wild riots of colour – filling the waste places – indifferent of recognition – mindful only of the Creator’s call to be fruitful and multiply. They speak of His extravagant commitment to beauty and detail independent of human strife; they speak of His faithfulness and His promises…
'THE FIG TREE' by Graham Braddock
The Fig Tree - Mt Carmel Israel Landscape “What will be the sign of Your coming and of the end of the age?”… “Learn the lesson of the fig tree: when it puts forth its leaves you know t hat Summer is near. Even so, when you see all these things coming to pass, know that it is near, even at the doors!” Matt 24 v 3-35.
'AFTERNOON LIGHT' by Graham Braddock

New Zealand Landscape
I have never come across a more paintable old colonial homestead than the one on Thompson's Farm at Kaipara Flats near Warkworth. When John Thompson arrived in New Zealand in 1859 and cleared a knoll on which to site his family home, I'm sure that he did not have a 20th century painting in mind.
At the time I painted this, the homestead was unoccupied, but still maintained a wonderful, mellow dignity. I suspect that some of this painting's popularity stems from the treasured childhood memories that many people carry of visiting farms that were "just like that".
Limited Edition of 650 hand signed and numbered copies. Lithographic reproduction using fade resistant inks on high quality art paper.

'ONCE UPON A TIME' by Graham Braddock
Once Upon a Time - Mission Bay New Zealand Landscape The old building holds its secrets as it nestles quietly beside huge Norfolk Pines. Beyond lies the Waitemata Harbour. Behind, a clamorous sea of modern sophisticated living. Over 150 years ago, pioneer missionary Samuel Marsden had those volcanic stone walls built as a training centre where promising young indigenous leaders could learn God's ways before returning to their homelands in the South Pacific. Today, the timeless truths that were never easy, but made the "good old days" good, are still there, awaiting re-discovery
'REFLECTIONS OF THE PAST' by Graham Braddock
Reflections of the Past New Zealand Landscape The Smith family established a Kauri tree milling business in Northland in the late 1800's. They also ran a bullock team haulage business to get logs to the mill. After the last spinster daughter died, The old homestead, named "Devon Grove", stood empty and completely hidden by big trees, for over 20 years.
'DREAM HOME' by Graham Braddock
Dream Home New Zealand Landscape
This inner city home really captured my imagination. To me it stands as an oasis of tranquillity often unnoticed by the hurrying traffic that swirls past. The kindly owner allowed me to wander in his lovely garden. I decided to extend it through the surrounding houses. Fortunately, this is a painless process when only paint and involved.
