On her website Ruth says of herself:
I am committed to sharing the Gospel in all of my writing. I could make more money if I wrote for the secular market, but I don't feel that's what God would have me do. He has blessed my commitment by taking care of my family and always providing what we need when we need it...and then so much more! Ruth O'Neil |

SPREAD THE GOSPEL
As Christians, we are all commanded to spread the gospel. This can be done in many ways, that is why we each have different talents and gifts which the Lord gave us. Writing is a powerful way that the gospel of Christ can be shared. Writers can reach readers in parts of the world that they never planned to physically visit.
This is my goal in life: to reach people with the words of God that I will never meet until we are together in heaven. When I read Psalm 102:18 in my devotions one day, I adopted that as my new motto. To think that anyone can reach people for Christ that haven't even been born yet is an amazing thought! It makes me want to write that much more!

Psalm 102:18 King James Version (KJV)
18 This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the Lord.

THE STORY THAT STARTED IT ALL
I always loved to write. When I was nine I wrote my first story called "The Hunchback Bug." I felt proud as I sat at my Mom's typewriter and pounded away at the keys. Later on that story came up missing. I never knew what happened to it until my Mom passed away. My Dad gave all four of us kids our baby books that Mom had meticulously kept up with. Inside were treasures of all kinds: hair, reward certificates from school, honor roll certificates, report cards, and that story. She had kept that story all those years, safely tucked away. I still have it.
My mother was definitely my inspiration for writing. She was also a writer. She made sure I went to writer's conferences so that I could learn as much as I could. She read everything I wrote and gave me advice, constructive criticism, and encouragement.
While my love of writing may have come from my mother, my talents came from the Lord. It is He that receives the glory every time I get an acceptance letter.
God is working and I am excited to see what He will be doing next!
